After retiring in 2021 as the winningest coach in Cal tennis history, Peter Wright continues to serve the Bay Area tennis community as President of Youth Tennis Advantage. During his coaching career, he earned the
prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Meritorious Service Award and was awarded the USTA/ITA National Campus & Community Outreach Award for providing a leadership role in increasing tennis participation throughout the community.

After playing collegiate tennis at Cal, Peter’s pro tour highlights include appearances at Wimbledon and the Australian Open. He represented Ireland in Davis Cup from 1988-95 and served as Irish Davis Cup Captain from 1995-2003. Wright also served as the head coach for Ireland at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Peter has served as Chairman of the NCAA Tennis Committee, and on the Executive Board of Directors of the ITA. He spent over a decade on the USTA National Varsity Collegiate Tennis Committee and he has served on the Board of Youth Tennis Advantage for over 30 years.

Peter is a member of the USTA Northern California Tennis Hall of Fame, the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame, and the Berkeley High School Hall of Fame.
